In honor of International Women's Day, we are highlighting the Swivel Sisters Women's Fishing Club membership, female anglers who share a passion for fishing and anything and everything water. These women epitomize the true spirit of sisterhood through inspiration and empowerment of each other and consistently embodying strength, leadership and a thirst for knowledge. So, tip your lucky fishing hats to our independent water women who consistently demonstrate that they don't wait for respect, they simply reel it in. The Swivel Sisters Women's Fishing Club has sometimes been called a social club with a fishing problem! On November 5, 2022, some of the Swivel Sisters got together and participated in the Apalachicola Seafood Parade, throwing out candy, beads & love! Look for us next at the Port St. Joe Xmas parade in December 2022!
Listen to Swivel Sisters Club President Kendra explain the rules for our first summer event, the St. Joe Bay Poker Run, scheduled to be held on Saturday, August 13, 2022. She explains the rules and shares some specifics and details about our newest event. Enjoy! Special thanks to Blacks Island for welcoming our participants to the island at 3pm and helping us to coordinate the Bay Poker Run in St. Joe Bay! If you're available on July 16, this could be an informative event! Capt. Rick Murphy earned his reputation in the waters of Biscayne Bay, Everglades National Park and the Florida Keys by leading his clients to world-class catches and prestigious tournament victories. One of only two fishing guides to win the four-event Keys Tarpon fly fishing series (The Golden Fly, The Don Hawley, The Gold Cup and The Ladies World Fly Championship), Murphy has crossed saltwater boundaries in the tournament genre to win events and Angler of the Year Honors in the ESPN, FLW and IFA Redfish Tours, as well as on the South Florida blue water Sailfish circuit.
We've got so many upcoming events for the rest of 2022, that some of our Swivel Sisters got together for a special presentation - Swivel Sisters After Dark! - and filmed a special video announcement to share details on all the fun we have in store! From a Poker Run this summer, to a Women Only Trout Fishing Tournament in the fall and the new and exciting Golden Scallop event, you'll want to be sure to follow us on Facebook and keep track of your favorite event!
The Swivel Sisters Women’s Fishing Club will hold the inshore fishing tournament. The group is a women-led organization that hosts fishing clinics and raises money for community scholarship funds.
“Our whole purpose is to get women out on the water,” said committee member, Mikayla McKee. Check out this news article posted in The Star about our amazing organization! Thanks to Wendy Weitzel for the write-up!
